If you suffer from low self esteem, nerves, stress, anxiety or poor self confidence it affects you every day. Some days, MUCH WORSE! You know the days…

Some days you’d just sooner not have.
Let’s face it, we all have low confidence in certain areas of our lives. A great example is public speaking. People list public speaking as one of their greatest fears, rating it higher than DEATH!
But you ARE confident in some things. Maybe you are confident when it comes to your hobbies? Or being a parent? You may be confident in driving your car, or in a particular sport? It is important to remember that your level of confidence can vary significantly depending on the activity, your state of mind at the time, and your desire.
So the TRICK to confidence is to realise that you are indeed confident. You just need to apply that confidence to other areas of your life, or particular activities, where it is presently lacking.
Simple?
You decide. Consider this question:
It is all a matter of managing your state of mind – managing your emotional state.
This is where hypnosis can help.
For those of you who don’t know me my name is James Morris. I am a successful senior manager in a large FTSE100 company here in the UK. I began studying hypnosis and NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) several years ago to help me address my negative thinking, fear of failure, pessimism and, basically, my emotional states. I found the more I studied, the more training I undertook and the more I applied the techniques and principles in my life – the more balanced and positive I became in my job. I followed the natural progression of many people who get into self-development, I started to preach it to anyone and everyone around me! Yes, unfortunately, I became (for a short while) “Mr Motivator”. I’m sure I was very annoying to everyone … (if you’re reading – sorry!)
I then moved on to formal training in Hypnotherapy and Coaching, becoming an NLP Practitioner and Master Hypnotherapist with the British Institute of Hypnotherapists and the ILM (Leadership Management). Taking on private clients for coaching and hypnosis, I found the perfect way of exploring and living within the self development world I enjoyed while helping people get the most out of themselves and overcoming their problems.
I found my clients gained huge benefits very quickly from the simplest of approaches. It seemed the 80:20 principle applied – 80% of the benefits seemed to come from 20% of the techniques, ESPECIALLY where the techniques could be applied by themselves, whenever required – without ME being there!
This lent itself very well to my time constraints, having a full time management job, a young family and part-time hypnotherapy/coaching business, the less time I could spend with clients the better! (Sounds bad, but keep with me).
So I moved my focus onto online services. My 3MinuteHypnosis Podcasts on ITunes are hugely popular, often appearing in the Itunes Top 10 and accounting for over 100,000 downloads. The ongoing feedback I receive is fantastic and demonstrates that the quick, simple approach I take to hypnosis brings about significant benefit with very little effort.

Oh yes. Managing emotional states.
Ever notice how quickly you can feel an emotion? Maybe when a song plays on the radio and it takes you back instantly to a happy time? Take a moment and think of a time when you were truly happy, or successful. Visualise the scene. Hear what your heard, see what you saw… Feel, what you felt….
Did you get some of that feeling back?
Would it be useful to build up a “mental library” of positive states of mind, such as confidence, positivity and relaxation, and to be able to call upon them rapidly when you need them?
If this example does not apply to you, feel free to replace it with another topic you find challenging due to low confidence and/or high fear such as a driving test, examination or upcoming event.
Imagine you are called into your bosses office and asked to prepare and give a large, business critical presentation. The presentation will be to senior managers within your business, strategic clients and (worse of all) your peers.
… nice thought?
So, immediate feelings from that?
Fear?
Nerves?
Thoughts of – “How can I avoid it?”
“Why me?”
“Surely Ken/Bob/Steve/Pam/Jane will be better for this?”
“I don’t want to give the presentation, it isn’t my area”
“I’ll make myself look bad – I’ll be nervous and everyone will know it”
“What am I going to talk about to fill 30 minutes?”
… As time passes, and the presentation creeps closer and closer, the negative self talk becomes more continuous, interrupting your thinking and keeping the presentation at the front of your mind.
“I’m rubbish at presenting”
“I hope I don’t forget my lines”
“What if my mind goes blank”
“What will I do if they ask me a question and I don’t know the answer?”
“My material is terrible, how am I going to make it interesting?”
Maybe your sleeping patterns are disrupted. Spending your evenings trying to prepare the presentation while spending most of your time thinking about how badly it will all turn out…
Stress levels rise.
Anxiety rises.
Sleep reduces.
The presentation creeps closer….
and closer…
The day of the presentation arrives! Your presentation is fourth on the agenda. Plenty of time for you to build up the nerves… feeling the knots in your stomach… shortness of breath…
Ok, Ok, Enough of this – You get the idea. Sound familiar?
Well I’ve taken the 80:20 principle I mentioned up there in the “About Me” section (go back and read it, I’m great!) and applied it to self hypnosis.
I have created very short (3 minutes or so!) hypnosis recordings that are intended to be used regularly throughout the day, whenever it is safe to do so (not while driving or operating large machinery like flying a passenger jet).
The tracks use a rapid hypnotic induction and a variety of techniques to switch your emotional state rapidly.
All the techniques can be learned, and eventually applied without the need for the tracks at all – simply apply them yourself!
First off, why not set yourself a positive expectation – a Goal. If you frame the upcoming presentation as a Goal and mentally visualise what success would look like and buy into that Goal, it starts things rolling in a positive direction. Use the “Instant Goal Achievement” track for this.
Next, start building up some confidence in the area of presentations. Use the “Anchoring Confidence” and “Instant Confidence Boost” tracks to associate the feelings of confidence you have in other areas of your life (or in past events) to the act of presenting. Tie the confidence (anchor it) to a hand gesture and keyword and keep building the strength of it until you can regain that confidence whenever needed.
Things are looking up.
Now from time to time the negative self talk will creep in and the self doubt may rise – hit back with the “Instant Negativity Switch” and “cancel” out those negative thoughts. Again, as with all the tracks, they are so short and snappy you can learn the technique and apply it directly so you don’t need to keep listening to the recordings all the time.
If stress levels are rising or sleeping is impacted by the upcoming event, use the “Instant relaxation” and “Instant Stress Relief” tracks, accompanied by the FREE “Wash away Stress” tracks that you can get simply be signing up for my free newsletter (See top of the page).
Then on the day of the event, switch that nervous feeling for something far more useful, like excitement or happiness, using the “Instantly Overcome Nerves” track. Then give yourself a quick boost of confidence and get into your “Confident Presenter” state of mind by firing off your confidence anchor that you built and strengthened earlier in the process.

The 3MinuteHypnosis tracks support you throughout, not only by being quick and easy to listen to when you need them but also by their simplicity they can be learned and mastered so you can apply the techniques yourself at ANY time.
Simple,
Wow! New job, huge project due, listened to the Instant Anxiety Relief podcast. Was able to focus for the first time in months without a feeling of dread! Thanks so much, you spread good Karma, thanks.

I have just taken advantage of your offer, and now have 6 ‘instant’ tracks, 2 ‘anchoring’ and ‘so what is hypnosis’. I don’t seem able to find the instant and deep stress relaxation tracks. How do I access them, please?

Hi James,
Just wanted to say the podcasts are absolutely great. I find them very thought provoking and help to rationalise thought processes. It would be a great help if you could do one on anxiety about social situations and the feeling that blocks you from being yourself in those settings because youre too preoccupied with how the other people are perceiving you?
Just a thought, but either way, keep up the good work and thanks.
Dave

Hi Dave – great Idea! I’ve just created a free Podcast on confident public speaking, the main theme throughout being the need to concentrate on the VALUE you are GIVING to your audience and NOT wondering what your audience may be thinking about YOU. I find this approach hugely beneficial – many people refer to it as being “Self-Conscious” but in reality you are being “Other-Conscious” – in other words, you’re not being conscious of yourself, but much too conscious of “them” and what you think they must think….
A handy tip – buy the book “Psycho-Cybernetics” by Maxwell Maltz. It is a very practical and helpful guide to managing these very kind of issues. Also, look out for more podcasts! If I can help, please let me know.

First time listener – I enjoyed the “New Instant Confidence Boost V2″ podcast.
One nitpick comment is that there was a distracting clicking sound in the background throughout the episode. Not sure if you were clicking a mouse while recording or it if was from something else but it made it quite difficult to fully focus on the content you were delivering.
Good work though!

Hi Robert thanks for your comments – I’ll take a look into fixing the clicks – sorry for letting that through, watch this space! In the meanwhile, I hope you continue to enjoy the confidence download and other podcasts.

Hello James, just stopping by to thank you for the podcasts, i started listening to them last year after a friend recommended them to me. I started off with the introductory “What is Hypnosis” podcast which i found incredibly informative, and loved your analogy of how the subconscious mind functions, and have since gone on to listen to all your podcasts, finding them very helpful in clearing and relaxing my mind.
Kind regards,
Josh.

Glad you enjoyed my breakdown of what hypnosis is. I highly recommend you study into the subject further if it has struck your curiosity. I truly believe that using self hypnosis techniques you can not only change your day, but change your life.

I like your suggestion Kia. Why don’t you check out my podcast track for public speaking? It is similar – focussing on “giving” to the audience and the VALUE of your message, rather than YOU worrying about what THEY must be thinking about YOU or how you are DELIVERING the message. Worth checking it out? Let me know what you think.

Hi James
I was wondering what you would recommend for slight post traumatic stress? I have tried both the 3 minute and extended wash away exercise but am still looking for something more?
Many thanks
Kris

Hi James, a quick thankyou for your podcasts which Im finding great. Such a hugh change to the normal longer sessions which are usually found. Only 3 minutes! Quick to use anytime without having to settle down for sometimes 45 mins or so. One question I would love you to address please James. I always find it hard to concentrate etc, my mind seems to go off thinking about stuff and I wonder if I get the benefit of the track anyway. Also if Im weary and tired I think I fall asleep, so once again is there any benefit received. As Im not naturally good at concentrating [my mind is always elsewhere instead of where it should be at times] because Im always day dreaming etc. am I still receiving your suggestions even though I think I dont.
Best to you and kindest regards.. Liz from the Land DownUnder……
